Kate helps businesses with all legal aspects of the employment relationship. She enjoys focusing on the defense of wage and hour claims and has worked with clients nationwide to reduce exposure and eliminate claims.  She has successfully second chaired an employment trial in Missouri.

Kate also routinely represents companies and their insurers on personal injury claims in Kansas and Missouri, including anything from slip and falls at large retailers to motor vehicle accidents and property issues.  In Spring 2022, she successfully obtained summary judgment for a client on a slip and fall case in the Western District of Missouri. Prior to working for Halbrook Wood she practiced at a regional plaintiffs firm where she got a feel for understanding how plaintiffs think, something she believes gives her an upper hand in her defense work now.

Kate joined the firm in 2018 and became a partner in 2020.
